Miguel A. Balbuena, born and raised in the Bronx South, is an educator and a youth developer who has served various New York City communities for over 23 years. In 2006, Mr. Balbuena transitioned from the role of classroom teacher to Program Director at Salomé Ureña de Henriquez Campus (SU Campus), a Children's Aid Society community school in Washington Heights. After later becoming the Assistant Community School Director at SU Campus, Mr. Balbuena assessed the needs of the community by engaging a range of stakeholders and developed multiple new initiatives to strengthen campus programming. He then spent over three years as the Children’s Aid Society’s Community School Campus Director before joining The Police Athletic League of New York City as the Director of School-Based Centers, providing administrative oversight for eleven school-based centers across all five New York City boroughs. In 2022, Mr. Balbuena became the Deputy Director of School and Community Programs at Zone 126,
